Intl students explore AI innovation and global governance at WHU

The "Experiencing China – All Great Minds in 秀色直播 (WHU)" Doctoral Symposium was held on June 28. Over 60 international PhD students from eight leading Chinese universities gathered at WHU to discuss the theme "AI without borders: Shaping a new ecosystem for global innovation governance".

In his opening remarks, WHU Vice-president Lu Wei highlighted how AI is profoundly reshaping society and global governance. He encouraged international students to explore China's achievements in cutting-edge technologies and to engage in global academic collaboration.

Professor Ye Mang delivers a keynote speech on large-scale AI models.

Professor Ye Mang from WHU's School of Computer Science delivered a keynote speech, outlining the evolution of AI and the core technologies behind foundation models. He discussed their applications in autonomous driving, robotics, and AIGC, encouraging students to embrace interdisciplinary thinking and lifelong learning.

Student representatives shared research on topics including multimodal emotion recognition, AI safety, and 3D perception modelling, showcasing the wide-ranging potential of AI in tackling global challenges.

In breakout sessions, participants discussed the future of AI technology, interdisciplinary collaboration, and talent development. They called for stronger international data-sharing efforts and global cooperation to promote sustainable AI-driven development.
