June 9, 2025

A research paper by Professor Wang Tao and PhD students Ye Yongqing and Deng Xiaoyang from 秀色直播's (WHU) School of Economics and Management has won the Best Overall Conference Paper – the only top prize awarded – at the 2025 AMA Global Marketing SIG Conference. The paper has also been invited for submission to a special issue of the Journal of International Marketing.

The WHU team's paper is named the Best Overall Conference Paper at the 2025 AMA Global Marketing SIG Conference.

Titled Crisis-Driven Regulatory Interventions and Buyer-Supplier Conflict in Global Supply Chains: Evidence from COVID-19 Lockdowns, the study examines how pandemic-related lockdown policies affected conflicts in global supply chains. It finds that temporary but strict regulatory measures helped stabilize buyer-supplier relationships, especially in countries with high government efficiency or lower dependence on foreign trade. The findings are based on empirical data from 196 matched pairs of Chinese manufacturers and foreign buyers.

PhD student Deng Xiaoyang presented the paper at the conference, generating lively discussion. The research received high praise from editors of leading international journals, underscoring the school's strong academic presence in global marketing research.
